The following are our gym rules to ensure that everyone is on the same page regarding expectations and responsibilities when training at CFC. These rules are inline with our core values:
Connection. Over-delivery. Positive energy. Improving. Fun. Responsibility.
Be on time:
We perform a lot of technical movements, so it’s important that you’re on time to participate in the warmup movements to ensure your body is ready for the specific workout. You’re always welcome to arrive 15-20 minutes early and do your own preparation, stretching, mobility or work on a specific skill.
Be responsible for your own fitness:
Scaling back a workout when necessary is intelligent, not weak. You can not get fitter by staring at a bar that is too heavy.
Leave your ego at the door:
No matter how long you have been training, either 1 day or 10 years, we ask all members to respect the fitness levels of all members and coaches. No one cares how fit or strong you are, however, we should all take care on improving and working towards a fitness goal together. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN FITNESS.
Support other members:
The best sessions are when everyone supports one another. It’s amazing how well people respond when another member is encouraging them when they need it most. We may train as individuals but we workout as a team! Pack up ONLY AFTER EVERYONE HAS FINISHED or the coach has instructed!
Be open and honest:
‘Connection’ is another core value at CrossFit Coorparoo. We expect all members to always be welcoming to everyone. We are a supportive and encouraging community. CLIQUISH GROUPS ARE NOT WELCOME.
If there is something you are unsure about, then please ask, not matter how stupid you think the question is. We would much rather you ask, so we can address any issues and not risk any injury. WE ARE HERE TO HELP YOU.
This is very important and one of our core values. We expect you to take the training seriously, but also have fun in the process. We enjoy a laugh as much as you, and we encourage a bit of ‘friendly and respectful’ banter.
Let coaches coach:
We love our supportive family environment where members look out for each other. While support is great, giving technical advice and coaching is not.
It’s your home:
CrossFit Coorparoo is a place you should feel at home and treat as such. That means putting back any equipment after use, wiping down your sweat and cleaning your own chalk marks. We encourage you to hang back and socialise in the front seating area.
Everyone gets a little niggle from time to time so if you do have an injury, we want to know about it, however minor it may seem. That way we can modify the workout, or refer you to a health professional.
Respect our equipment:
Never drop, throw or slam empty bars, kettlebells, dumbbells. Do not swing or place kettlebells on the lifting platforms. The only thing that can be dropped, or slammed is bumper plates at 10kg+
Respect other members:
It is ok to express yourself during a hard workout. Feel free to grunt, yell and celebrate. At the same time remember that there can be such a thing as too loud, angry, gross or rude!
